The Kenyan Humanist Association is the national charity serving as a social network for those who stand up for reason and kindness toward their fellow man. Our vision is of world where reason and compassion guide public policy and beliefs are respected provided that they are compatible with the rights of others. We promote freedom and democracy by using reason and science to create a more compassionate society. Our focal issues are democracy, science, education and community.
Our Aims include:
(i) Promotion of public scientific literacy and Humanism as a life stance.
(ii) Promotion of inter-cultural dialogue and secularism
(iii) Provision of service, advocacy and empowerment of vulnerable and marginalized communities.
(iv) Promotion of positive youth development.
(v) Promotion and protection of human rights, especially the rights of women and children.
(vi) Promotion of conservation and sustainable management of the environment and its resources’
Humanists are people who make sense of the world using reason, experience and shared human values. We take responsibility for our actions and base our ethics on the goals of human welfare, happiness and fulfilment. We seek to make the best of the one life we have by creating meaning and purpose for ourselves, individually and together.
