This one day event brings together academics, practitioners and policymakers to consider the solutions to the issue of witchcraft related violence.
Highlights
• Launch of ‘International Day of Action Against Witch-hunts.’
• Plenary from Professor Adam Ashforth, Professor of Afroamerican and African Studies at the University of Michigan. Author of Witchcraft, Violence, and Democracy in South Africa (University of Chicago Press), Madumo, A Man Bewitched (Chicago, 2000), and The Politics of Official Discourse in Twentieth Century South Africa (Oxford, the Clarendon Press, 1990), along with a bunch of articles. Winner of the 2005 Herskovits Prize, He is presently completing a book on witch trials in contemporary Malawi entitled The Trials of Mrs. K. to be published by the University of Chicago Press.
